You will be accompanied on your safari by Terry McDonald. Terry has been conducting photography workshops and courses for over 25 years. He approaches photography from both the art and craft perspective: a solid grounding in tech-
nique frees him to explore a variety of visual styles.
Having lived and worked in Tanzania, Terry has
gathered together the knowledge, experience and
people to make this safari a truly unique experience.
Currently, Terry lives with his wife and daughter in
Guelph, Ontario. But he feels just as at home in
Germany, England, South Africa and Tanzania His work may be viewed at luxBorealis.com.

We’ve partnered with African Outdoor Expeditions, locally owned and operated by Allan Phillemon (kiliman.com). Aside from his 100+ ascents of Kilimanjaro, Allan provided the logistical support for the IMAX film crew in their filming of Kilimanjaro: To the Roof of Africa. Allan lives near Arusha in a house with commanding views of both Kilimanjaro and Meru.

  1. On the Ground....

Rather than being packed 6 to 8 to a truck, you will be photographing with just 3 others giving you the space and angles you need to maximize your shooting time in Africa.  We will even provide you with a large, custom bean bag for lens support.

All learning will be done in a relaxed atmosphere in the field as we are shooting and driving. Terry will be photographing along-side you and will coach you through various techniques for capturing just the right view.

Along with your photo gear you may consider bringing a laptop which allows you to upload and edit images each evening. As well, there is an optional 3-day local photography and photo editing workshop with Terry.
